Hello all my lovely followers! Yes I am still in Texas but I just couldn't resist you guys! So herre I am blogging on my vacation! I am having a great time with family but I can't wait t be back home. I was very inspired when I read this poem on another blog, It's called "Goodbyes" and I think it speaks to all kinds of goodbyes. It really got me because I can even apply it to just being in a military relationship and having to say goodbye so often. Not that it ever gets easier to say the words, but each time you do, you learn. You learn how to deal, and you learn that you have to be independant and not count on him being there. I hope it's an inspiration to many of you as well, and that it speaks to you in it's own way as it has to me.
"Goodbyes"
After a while you learn
the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul
and you learn
that love doesn't mean leaning
and company doesn't always mean security.
And you begin to learn
that kisses aren't contracts
and presents aren't promises
and you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of woman, not the grief of a child
and you learn
to build all your roads on today
because tomorrow's ground is
too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down
in mid-flight.
After a while you learn
that even sunshine burns
if you get too much
so you plant your own garden
and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone
to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure
you really are strong
you really do have worth
and you learn
and you learn
with every goodbye, you learn.
What a great poem! I'll have to save that one!
