Happy Thoughts:

Snap Out of It!

Today I finally got a call from the insurance company and was able to go get my belongings from my car at the tow yard, it was very dark when the accident happened, and I knew it was bad but when I saw my car today in the light I have to say my heart sank a little bit. There was more damage than I had realized. The driver side door doesn't open, and the entire front end is smashed in. I didn't realize how bad my car was damaged, and I almost cried again thinking how badly we could have been hurt. I can realize now it was just a car, and I'm lucky to be okay.

So I'm thanking God for all my blessings today,
including how thankful I am to have not been hurt.

Because of My Sunshine

The Sunshine Award is given to those who inspire others and show positivity and creativity.

So Thank You Ashley!
I've had a rough couple of weeks which were all made better when my sailor came home this weekend, and things are looking up now! This has made the day even better and I'd like to pass it on to a few other inspiring, creative, & most of all strong ladies!

She's just starting out but has a great little blog that I like to read, I'm happy to have someone around who comes from the same place as me. I think it really helps sometimes, when I'm really missing home, she knows how I feel.

I'm sure she probably has already won this award, but I can't say enough how inspiring she is, she's a very strong person. She's been through a lot, and has helped inspire me to keep going no matter how hard it gets.

Welcome Home Hubby :)

Grapes, strawberries, candlelight, bubbles, & most of all hubby!

Tonight was perfect...

I welcomed him home with a bubble bath, feeding each other fruit, and a nice foot massage, he is so spoiled but I have never been happier to have him home. We had a great time and I'm looking forward to spending an amazing couple of weeks in his arms before he's off again, but I'm not thinking about that right now because tonight couldn't have been better!

It's Homecoming day! :)

So today is the day he will be home!

I haven't been this excited in a LONG time! I have so much to do today, and can't sleep at all... I can't wait to feel safe again in his arms, and be able to enjoy all the little things we do together.  I only get him for three weeks but that's okay, we'll make every day count! We have so much to enjoy here now that it's hot, it was cold when he left so there's much we haven't done since we just moved here. Relaxing days on the beach, walking down the nature trail, exploring downtown, and I'm dying to go check out the zoo!

All this separation, and time spent apart leaves something to be missed. I feel it brings us closer together and makes us see what we really have. Yes I miss him dearly when he's gone, but I love the excitement and anticipation each time he comes home! I have much to do today so I better get started but here is one of my absolute favorite poems from the hubby.. It's called Virginia Anticipation, he wrote it right before I flew to Virginia in October only the second time we ever met. Leaving to go back home to Texas after that was one of the hardest things ever. I DID NOT wanna get on that plane! I have lots of anticipation today so I think it's appropriate!

"Virginia Anticipation"
When our breathe hangs low
fog on window just to show
Of the love we both grew to know
Late in the chill of night
quiver for a kiss
Mourning for this moment we will miss
Mourning for the ending of our tryst
Morning and we both yeild to the light
Pervading the sane is the desire to fight
Fight for this loves presence
Fight for this room and all its contents
Contented to fore go today and look past tomorrow
Smile absent minded we forget and fore go this sorrow
Stay my love Stay give hope show faith
and we will rise above!
Adversity is nothing for we have Love
Stay!

His Words...

I absolutely love reading my husband's poetry, it brings me so much peace when he is away. I feel safe, and as if he is here with me. Some of these were written before we were together, but I still love reading them. His words are so amazing to me, and no matter what is going on in life, no matter how far away he is, or how horrible a day I'm having, his words are what keep me going. From the ever so thoughtful good morning text messages, down to the long written out poems. I always said I would love a poet, and I fell in love the moment he started talking, & even still when he speaks his words are so wonderfully put together I can't help but fall in love all over again, because he never skips taking the time to say beautiful things to me. I never understood before how love continues to grow, but it does. I fell in love with him the day we met, and our relationship has progressed very rapidly. I know though that he's the one I will spend the rest of my life with, because there is not a single thing about him I haven't learned to love. Even the things that drove me crazy in other relationships. I have learned to see the good in everything he does, that there is a reason to his crazy ways. He may not have been my best friend before, but he definitely is now. I know I can confide in him, I can trust him with anything I need, and he brings happiness to my life and most who come around, and most of all he supports me in EVERYTHING I do. I can't imagine life without him, or even what it was like before him. I know that sounds crazy but he's brought so much to my life, and taken all that was ever bad away. I will never be able to thank him enough, but since I know he will read this because he always does, iLy daddycakes, you are my everything, my world, and my sky, & I can't see me without you in my life. Thank you for everything you have given me. and for the rest of you reading this here is another of his poems I found that I really enjoyed...

"Teach Me"

Teach me care
Teach me inspiration
Teach me self
Teach me admiration
for the matters of the heart
Teach me proper how can i start
Teach me understanding
Teach me patience
Teach me hope commmanding
demanding I get a proper peace
Teach not to take the whole but happy with just my piece
Teach me to walk
with arms open wide
Teach me to talk
with eyes focused on meaning
Teach me happy with smile gleaming
Teach me alone without lonliness
Teach me laughing
With my God apitamy of comeliness

Teach the peace to come to us
Teach me to be harmonious
Teach me how to sense
for I feel my body trapped in my own defense

Teach me teach
love the everything and the each
Teach me beauty is a within not with out reach
Teach me not to walk these streets
but happy skip to the beats
the coming the going happy in the knowing
that though tragedy is a truth
and hurt will happen and harm will occur
and I can't avoid no matter how I juke jive swerve
That I am me such a lesson of sweet simplicity
so teacher if you could; please if you would just teach me

- Mr. Gambizzle

From my Hubby

Fingers woven seamless
Bound by more than touch
joy friendship and such
I could have never dreamed this

Dreamed of love so invasive and encompassing
To have it pervade my body
I feel as if I am not me
I sing now songs I could not sing

Dream now of futures i have not seen
Live as a man I have not been
And all the while it seems
There is so much more to come!

Jewel Parties

A few months ago I got into jewelry making with my husbands mom. I was still living in Texas and I REALLY needed a hobby to pass my time. It's a lot of fun to be able to create jewelry to match any outfit, and it's a great stress reliever. In the picture is one of the necklaces I have made. I was really hoping to get together some sort of jewel party where the other military wives can come and learn how to make necklaces, bracelets, or earrings. I would charge a small fee but provide everything needed tools, beads, stones, all of it and teach you how to put it together. So let me know if you would be interested!

I Love My Sailor

I am so excited today I can't even sleep, not that I do much anyways. There are only 11 more days 'til my amazing husband comes home to me! He has a three day weekend when he gets back and I can't wait to spend every minute of it in his arms! It's been rough since he left and I'm ready to have him back home so we can spend some quality time together. The months are flying by and soon he will be deploying. Our first deployment is going to be really rough, we're so close. I have faith though and I know we will get through it. I have decided I am definitely going back home to Texas though, there's no way I can survive here for that amount of time without him. Enough of that though! I am so excited I want to scream, I got a lot to do though before he gets home! So off to work I go! I want to plan a special dinner or a picnic or something for when he comes home. This has been really rough and we need something special. He loves Chicken fried steak, so maybe I will get my mom's recipe and try to make that, along with some good wine! MMMM! =)

"TOGETHER"

by: Lorenzo Gamboa

together we make breakfast:
french toast with bacon on the side
almost next to naked
we have no shame only pride

together we are naked
pretty much all the time
making love creating love
together we're sublime

Together we go see movies
action and adventure
we even watch childrens
regardless of others censure

Together we take strolls
leisure and the like
virginia beach aquarium
where I asked you "be my wife?"

and apart we are but pieces of ourselves
but together we are whole
together we make sense
together we will grow old

and as the twilight dwindles
and our movements have grown slow
We will have each other
a fact I've never been happier to KNOW

Thank you

Click to play this Smilebox scrapbook: Thank You

Every couple has a song, ours is called "Thank You" by Keith Urban. We tend to go out of our way to do things for each other, writing poetry, little messages, whatever we think will brighten the others day. It's part of what keeps us going strong, so this is for you babe. You mean the world to me!

"Thank You"

For being united to me
For being part of my life
For you love, strength, and honor
There will never be a price
For all you have taught me
I respect you more than you will ever know
For the way your lips move
For your comforting words
For speaking to my soul
For being more than just special
You deserve the world
For loving me like no other
For being my best friend
With all of me I promise
You are my heart until the end

UP!

"Missing you gets easier every day, because even though I'm one
day further from the last time I saw you, I'm one day closer to seeing you again."

So as of today I we only have 13 more days til we will be together again, and I am getting more and more excited and looking UP as each one passes. I can't wait to have our lazy days back, and our BIG breakfasts on Saturday mornings, walks in the park, and most of all those soft kisses he gives on the eyelids! =) It feels so good to know that each time we are separated like this our love and will to get through it only gets stronger.

We love to watch the movie "UP!" Its "Our Movie" and right now it's the way I feel. Like I'm soaring through the sky with thousands of colorful balloons and nothing can bring me down, no distance, no obstacle, no deployment. I have my sailor and he's the only thing in the world I need, no matter where in the world he may be.

He wrote this poem for me about the movie too:

"UP"

The movie magic moves to inspire
To give a little more life to help lift higher
It seems fitting that this is our movie
The title alone inspires and moves me
UP
The intensity, the growth of our friendship
UP
Our faith in one another
UP
Our laughter, our lives, our love
UP
Upward bound to the heavens
Our sturdy love replacing ground
Through turbulent winds we stand
At the ready
Ready to work, ready to cry
Ready to fight, ready even to die
For each other, we need not even ask each other
For we are adventurers, explorers of the heart
In the rarified atmosphere we are privy
to its most beautiful of parts
Happy moving ever onward
Our love pushes ever Upward

- Lorenzo Gamboa

I'm really hoping to plan something special for the weekend when he returns some kind of special dinner or something that we can do together. Any ideas girls? Any good recipes you can share?

The Next Eighty Years

My husband recently left for the first time since we moved in together. We're used to being apart because that's how our whole relationship has been, but it was different this time. I'm in a new city, I don't really know anyone very well yet, and I recently lost my car. I knew what I was getting myself into when I married him, but you're never really prepared for the kind of emotion that comes along with having to say goodbye, no matter how many times you go through it.

I know deployment is so much worse, but I kinda like these little separations in a way because they give you a chance to step back and really truly see what you have. Every time my husband leaves it takes a few days to get myself going again but, then I can stop and think about all the love we have. We are so crazy stupid in love with each other! He's my best friend, I tell him everything, right down to little things that no one else in the world knows. I love it! I love that we can goof off, and act silly and not care what anyone thinks. I love that we have inside jokes that make us giggle, and I like to think that we have the kind of relationship, and the kind of love that will keep us going strong for the next eighty years.

When my husband and I were getting married at the courthouse there was a newspaper article on the bulletin board about this couple who broke the world record for the longest marriage. They were married for over 80 years! My husband and I always tell each other we are going to break that record. I love seeing little old couples like that, still holding hands after 80 years. It makes me smile to know that that kind of love does exist, because that's the kind of love I believe we have. When two hearts like ours meet, they create a bond so strong that nothing in the world can tear them apart.

Please pray for Rachel

I cannot imagine what it must feel like to lose your husband, and there are no words to explain the amount of pain and sorrow that go along with it. Please keep Rachel in your prayers she's only 23 and she just recently lost her husband who never even got to hold their new baby girl Ariana. I couldn't hold back the tears when I began reading her story, it really hit me hard. I can't imagine what I would do if I lost my husband, he is my everything, my world, my sky.

Please pray for her and their baby Ariana, they have a tough road ahead.

You can stop by and read her blog here:

A trust fund has also been set up for baby Ariana you can send donations to:

Moving Day!

I was so ecstatic on the day it finally came! I had been waiting for what felt like forever to finally start my life with my husband. I started the journey from Texas with my husband's mom on February 4, 2010, two weeks earlier than originally planned because I was trying to surprise him like he is so great at doing for me, but it didn't work out so well. It was a very long and stressful trip that took three days to make. Not to mention we were in my little Pontiac G6 with all of my belongings, and two dogs! There was so much crammed into my car there wasn't even room for the dogs to have their crate so they slept in my lap the entire way. They had never seen snow before, or slept in a hotel so I'm sure it was extremely stressful and crazy for them as well. By the end of the second day the anticipation of being in my hubby's arms again was killing me. It had been over two months since we had last seen each other the day we got married. This is where my journey as a Sailor's Girl officially begins...

The Greatest Day of My Life!

I consider the greatest day of my life to be the day I married my husband. November 30, 2009, exactly four months from the day we met. It was only the third time we had ever met, I flew to Virginia for Thanksgiving so we could be together since he couldn't make it home. We had a really good time going to the park, seeing a movie, and spending an entire day at the aquarium. We had talked about getting married already but we were planning on waiting until at least the following summer. I guess he decided he didn't wanna wait that long because while we were on the trail walk at the aquarium he got down on his knee and asked me to be his wife! I was supposed to leave that night but I ended up missing my flight because we lost track of time at the aquarium. So we spontaneously decided to get married the next day! It was so romantic! No one knew we were married til I flew back home to Texas, I was so nervous to tell the family. They reacted better than I thought they would, surprisingly. Unfortunately I had to leave the same day we got married, but it was so worth it. iLy babe MUAH!

It's not always easy being in a military relationship. Time apart is stressful, lonely, and it happens often. Not to mention the many people who try to make it harder by adding in their drama, and horror stories. Marriages take a lot of work in general but add in deployments, and long work days, and the other numerous occasions you will be separated, and comments some have made like "It's destined to fail." I don't believe this for a minute, with the right amount of commitment from both people, and the willingness and strength to get through the time apart it can be an amazing journey. A journey I am so excited to be making with my sailor.

From My Hubby

Her body moves delightfully, not the most graceful or fluid but so beautifully impassioned, her body whispers, speaks of a flame dwelling deep, flickering. It speaks just briefly here and there, suggesting, begging, hinting to be free. Suppressed by her mind, her judgment subconscious as is mine. Willing to give in, but not yet willing to let go, timid now, but yet beautifully bolder she grows. I want her, her compassion, her understanding, her desire to better herself, her stunning eyes that shimmer with innocence, admiration, and appreciation, and peer through the minutia of gaudy flashy words, to the meaning, to the person, to the soul, even if she can't describe what she's seeing. Eyes that possess a soul far older than her, eyes that can appreciate not only what something is, but what it can be. Eyes that believe in me, eyes that trust me, eyes that drive me without thought and seemingly without effort, to be something better than myself. Her body, her eyes, her love... I want her... I love her.
